The line dancing population of South Africa is increasing on a daily basis. More and more people are becoming enthusiastic about this fun activity and are joining clubs like Footloose. Line Dancing in South Africa.

The reason for the growing popularity of line dancing is simply that people are realising the many benefits it offers:

  • Cardio workout
  • Muscle shaping
  • Improved balance and rhythm
  • Increased self-esteem
  • No need for a partner
  • No need for special clothes or shoes

As anyone who has ever taken part in a line dance class will tell you, the greatest benefit of all is leaving the studio with a smile on your face and feeling great!

What is Line Dancing?

Line dancing is a whole new world waiting to be discovered. It’s probably the only style of dance where people of all ages, sizes and abilities can join in and master a new way of expressing themselves.

So often I have seen how line dancers start out being unsure of themselves and a few weeks later they dance as if the whole floor belongs to them. That is what line dancing does. It builds confidence in your ability to take on a challenge and succeed. How amazing it feels when you perfect a dance you initially thought was only for the professionals!

Line dancing is a dance sport growing in popularity by the day. The dances are choreographed by professional choreographers to all kinds of music. Within a few days of a brand new hit, a line dance is created with a step sheet and music to accompany it to lead the dancers on a new , exciting discovery.

Line dancing is a fun way of getting a work-out and actually enjoying it. You don’t even need a partner. It is a way to interact on a social level with like-minded people. At Footloose Linedancing the dances are choreographed with a repeated sequence of steps in which our dancers dance in one or more lines or rows, all facing the same direction, and performing the steps simultaneously. Line dancers are not in physical contact with each other and there are many different variations of dances on offer to master.

Line Dance Step Sheets

At the beginning of each lesson, dancers are given a step-sheet with instructions on the dance about to be learned. It is quite a helpful tool along with Ingrid’s guidance, instruction and motivation. Below are a few examples of our step-sheets:
